Snippets!

You really must check out this link.

Then choose, Listen to Sample Snippet: "Making Time".  Her voice is soothing and friendly...makes me wanna scrap!!  I have been listening to Lain's podcasts for over a year and find her informative and entertaining.  I love to listen to her essays!  I'm hoping that her 50th aniversary podcast will be a celebration of her book, "Snippets".

Makin' a List...

Do you ever make a list of projects to finish or even begin then discover that you've done something that wasn't on the list so you writie it down just so you can cross it off?  I do.  Here are a couple of my many lists which include sketches and ideas swimming around in my head.  I wish I had more time to do the things I WANT to do!  i have household lists of things i HAVE to do too!  ugh!

scan0006listThese are lists that I have made prior to "crops" so that I can have a plan before I go and help me to gather my supplies for these layouts.

Scrapbooking is everywhere!

I love to read almost as much as I love to scrapbook.  So when I learned that there were books that included scrapbooking as a part of the content, I checked them out, literally!  I just finished reading Keepsake Crimes by Laura Child...it took me a little while to get into this one but once I had a chunk on time to devote to it I was hooked and read it to the end!  I understand that there are several more in the series.

I am currently reading Sisters, Ink by Rebeca Seitz...so far so good.  It is a definate switch from what I normally read, which are cozy mysteries.  I'll get back to you in the end :)

MM Slice

I received my MM Slice in the mail yesterday!  FUN!  I played with it a little last night and hope to make time to play so more today.  So far I like it...a few more steps than the Cricket but I like the price better and the cost of the disks is cheaper than the cartridges.  It is my intention to use it to make nuimbers....there is not a good source for number stickers or chipboard that I have found...Heidi Swapp has some nice chipboard numbers but that's really it.  So after my next post...I'm off to cut some more!

I think I'm in love...

A friend of mine introduced my to the Kodak Picture Maker at Wal-Mart.  I knew it was there.  I've used it before.  I hate to go to Wal-Mart so I generally send my husband with a list.  BUT, she showed me the mini prints she made using this machine and I think I'm in love!  I have printed more photos this past summer than I would have by sending them via upload!  I love the sizes that it offers two prints on one 4x6 or four prints on a 4x6.  It's easier to get more photos on a page which makes it less challenging to use some of the ideas published in sketches like Becky Higgins and Ali Edwards!  They are an awesome size for mini-albums and other fun projects!  Let the scrappin' begin...I mean, continue!

Pebbles gathered along the way...

I'm not sure if it was first Stacy Jullian, reinforced by Ali Edwards, further emphasized in the pages of Simple Scrapbooks magazine and then signed sealed and delivered by Dear Aunt Scrappy aka Lain Ehmann.  The fact of the matter is that I have finally let go of a couple of small pressures that I create when scrappin'.  These ladies have embedded the idea that if is ok to use the product that you have right in front of you...do not search for hours for the perfect match, if it looks right and feels right...go with it!  Lately I have been using pattern papers for background papers rather than cardstock.  This has been a huge time saver for me!  I love pattern papers but have a terrible time using them because I am always conserving them for the perfect page.  Lain has encouraged us to let go of that pressure and use it up because there will always be something new, bigger or better for the next page.

Thanks, you simple scrappers!

30 Minute Challenges!

Here are a couple of layouts from previous challenges posted at Scrap Happy by Lain Ehman!  She inspired me to get started on an album about me since I am always behind the camera.  I thought I'd document some things about me at 35!

This layout was for the challenge related to your favorite book.  I'm "Plum Crazy"!

This layout was created for the "red" challenge.  Easy for me since red is my favorite color!
